The new 30,000 square foot Benedictine Sisters Convent consists of 40 private rooms each with a private bath and walk in closet and ten of which are designed to meet accessibility standards so the elderly Sisters can age in peace. The public areas consist of a communal dining area with commercial kitchen, a 50 seat chapel, library, activities room, conference area, and administrative offices. Massaro is providing design/build services including site selection, purchase, development, architectural design, engineering, construction, interiors and furnishing. The home design incorporates numerous sustainable features including a geothermal heating system.
Building information modeling is being implemented on this project for design authoring, design reviews/visualization and cost estimation.
